More Red, White & Blue

I hope you all had a safe and fun Fourth of July. My holiday 'weekend' has a minor bump in the road...I go to work this morning. I'll resume the weekend after 5 o'clock this afternoon!
Someone asked about this framed piece I have in my entryway...it's by Becky Geis, owner of The Heart of Newburgh, in Newburgh Indiana. Becky, and her staff (Patty and Michelle --Michelle of http://www.madredhare.blogspot.com/) are so very talented. In the past they've manufactured papier-mache figurines for all holidays...bunnies galore, wonderful primitive Halloween and Christmas pieces, and their products are available on the web and through Country Sampler magazine.

A little Valentine's Decorating

I visited one of my favorite stores today. It is The Heart of Newburgh located a block from the Ohio River in Newburgh, Indiana. The last time I was there was in the fall...I took several pictures there and posted them here. The shop was almost free of Christmas decorations, and there were lots of really cute ideas for Valentine's Day and Easter...and lots of new items have arrived for the garden and outdoors.
I only purchased a few items...a wire card holder, and a heart from the Nicol Sayre collection. My other purchase was a Metro bag from Vera Bradley. It's a discontinued style and The Heart of Newburgh has all discontinued styles and patterns 30% off. The bag can hold my laptop, files, and books. In the next few days I need to get the rest of my Valentine decorations out and up, and I also have a few Valentine's crafts to finish.

Along the Ohio River...

Earlier this week I took a short trip to Newburgh Indiana, a charming little town along the river. Newburgh has several unique shopping venues. One of my favorites is The Heart of Newburgh, a small mostly primitive shop near the edge of town.
The shop has lots of vintage-y holiday decorations...and many of the items are actually produced there in the shop. I helped out there for a few years when I lived in Newburgh...and my main activity was filling old chocolate molds with squishy papier mache pulp.

Most of the items available are from outside vendors...the usual MidWest items, Bethany Lowe, Nicol Sayre, Dee Foust, and Salem.

Each and every nook and cranny is filled to capacity...it's almost hard to walk around and take everything in.

I'll post my latest purchases tomorrow after I place them in their new home.

Catching Up

It's been awhile...as usual, not much going on.  As I look through photos on my phone, I decided to do a little blog post. Last Monday...
