48 Days 'til Spring!

Seed catalogs galore...I've thumbed through them even though I have no intention of really starting anything from seed.  The only item that as tugged on my heartstrings is a beautiful little pastel poppy mix from Heirloom Seeds.
Mother of Pearl Poppy, sun or partial shade

This is the year I'll finally plant all of those Sweet Pea seeds I've accumulated.  I'm ready for all of that cheery color!  I really love the look of the Mother of Pearl poppy...they look so fragile, almost like tissue paper.  Want them!

71 Days...the countdown begins

Woke up again this morning thinking "Spring"...the weather has been so nice for the past several days...so un-January like.  I know that there are 71 days until Spring...but looking out the window at that gorgeous sunshine makes me crave what I think Spring should be.

I saw this picture this morning on Facebook and absolutely fell in love with this boxcar/gypsy wagon.  Wouldn't it be great to step out into your backyard and have this?  What a nice little getaway!  Since the boxcar is wider than my backyard, I don't think it would work...and where would I find a boxcar to re-do?  It is charming though.

Another bit of my Spring-thinking is garden related crafts for library programs.  Hypertufa, anyone?  I think we're going to be elbow-deep in Portland Cement, peat moss, and vermiculite.

Still Dreaming...

With winter storm warnings and advisories as the lead story on the news yesterday and today, I've retreated to books...finding spring, beauty, and imaginary warmth coming from their pages. Who wouldn't like to be on the porch reading, sipping lemonade, and dreaming... ...or relaxing with friends in the cottage kitchen? The warm sun pouring through the open window and a breeze carrying the scent of herbs and flowers...wouldn't it be delightful? These photos are from Country Living's Small Spaces and Cozy Corners.

Catching Up

It's been awhile...as usual, not much going on.  As I look through photos on my phone, I decided to do a little blog post. Last Monday...
