Autumn's Bounty

This time of year is just so beautiful. The sights, scents, and sounds of autumn are so welcome after a long hot summer.

This recipe is wonderful for sipping on a cool, crisp evening:

Spiced Cranberry Apple Cider

1 quart apple cider or apple juice
2 cups cranberry juice
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
4 whole cloves
2 cinnamon sticks (3 inches)

DIRECTIONS
In a large saucepan, combine the cider, cranberry juice and brown sugar. Place cloves and cinnamon sticks on a double thickness of cheesecloth; bring up corners of cloth and tie with kitchen string to form a bag. Add to pan.
Bring to a boil over medium heat. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 15-20 minutes. Discard spice bag before serving.

I stopped by late to see your Pink Saturday post and looked at your entire blog. I really like the pink bike. I grow ferns too. Next week I have five huge ones that I will donate to the Career and Technology Center for their horticulture program. We make your drink for Thanksgiving and Christmas. We have another name for it, Wassel. By any name, it's delicious.

That recipe sounds delightful. What have you done here with blog decorating? A new background? I like. I don't know if I've seen this kind of format before where the words and pictures "float" above the background. I like that, too!
